Corpus

‘Corpus’, is an ongoing series that will be composed of seven sculptures presenting fragments of a hybrid and wounded body made out of latex and wax. The number seven is imbued with a big religious/mystical charge that I also want to translate in these works. I associate them to some sort of ex-votos, morbid offers of a believer to a carnal God. I am once again indulging in the idea of the skin, so easy to damage and at the same time so strong to reconstruct itself, a demonstration of a tough delicacy. All the times I fell; I cut myself, I scratched my knees; my body silently rebuilt itself, healed the wounds and offered me a new and fresh skin to harm again. Every wound holds in itself the possibility of rebirthing. My ultimate goal is to open a reflection on the strength/weakness duality naturally contained in our flesh, and therefore in the human being.
